We love children at West Main and believe that they are a
full and complete part of the faith community.

We share the stories and practices of our faith with them as we live life together, and work to include them as
much as possible in the overall life of the church.  We believe that children form their earliest ideas about who
God is from who we are, so we try to model God’s love for them in everything we do.

​We offer a variety of weekly children's programming, Sunday Bible Studies, and nursery care.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

SUNDAY MORNING:  We offer Bible study and childcare for all ages.  First graders and above attend the worship service, and we make an intentional effort to celebrate their presence with us.  A child assists as the worship helper each week.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT:  The West Main family gathers together to laugh, talk and share a meal on Wednesday nights. After dinner, children go to age-level classes where they enjoy music, games, crafts and activities that teach them how to live a life of faith.

OTHER SEASONAL EVENTS INCLUDE:

CELEBRATING MILESTONES

• BIRTH:  We love welcoming new lives into our congregation.  Each newborn receives a special book, and families are showered with meals.  Around 6 months of age, babies are dedicated during worship and receive a toddler Bible.
• BAPTISM:  It is our deep hope that every child will choose to follow Jesus and be baptized, but these decisions are never rushed or coerced.  Baptism classes are offered for children 8 years old and above, and children enjoy a special trip to Chick-fil-A when they’re ready to talk with the pastor about making a profession of faith.
• NEW SCHOOL YEAR:  The “Blessing of the Backpacks” has become a West Main favorite, bringing out tons of children and their friends to receive a special blessing for the new school year.  First graders are also introduced and recognized with a Bible on their first Sunday attending the full worship service.​

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

FIFTY6: Fifty6 brings out 5th and 6th graders together for Wednesday evening hangouts, Sunday morning Bible study, and a variety of fun outings in between

​​JUBILEE: Jubilee is for 3 year olds - kindergarteners. We spend Wednesday evenings learning about the love of God through singing, playing, and creating together.​​

CHILDREN IN ACTION: our 1st - 4th graders get together to have fun and learn about important aspects of our faith on Wednesday nights. Past topics include: the fruit of the spirit, the books of the Bible, missions, and the Lord's Prayer. Children in Action and Fifty 6 Alternate with music time on Wednesday nights.
