Music Ministry
Music is a way we connect with God, ourselves and each other and is, therefore, a vital part of church life at West Main. Music also gives West Mainers young and old the opportunity to use their gifts in service to God.

THE SANCTUARY CHOIR: The sanctuary choir provides worship leadership each week. Anthems are chosen to reflect the lectionary reading(s) and are often enhanced by soloists or additional instrumentalists.
CHILDREN AND YOUTH: Children’s choirs (preschool - grade 6) rehearse on Wednesday nights and are regularly included in Sunday morning worship. These ensembles incorporate vocal music, handbells and ORFF instruments. Youth Ensembles form and rehearse at special times during the church year. Additionally, children and youth who play instruments are given the opportunity to play during worship services.
LESSONS AND CAROLS: Our Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols service is perhaps the musical highlight of the year, occurring annually on the 3rd Sunday of Advent. Flute, piano and strings enhance this special service.
INSTRUMENTS: Built in 1966 by M.P. Moller and renovated in 2006 by Grooms and Payne, West Main’s pipe organ is the primary instrument used during worship. However, additional acoustic instruments are frequently added to enhance our service. Piano, guitar, handbells, flute, strings, djembe and cajon ́ are often utilized.
The 2010 Celebrating Grace Hymnal is used for congregational singing.
